Red doesn’t sit still on the top drawer. It moves — across blue, across yellow, the way fire moves across water at dusk, the way a hull looks when the light hits it sideways after a long crossing.
The bottom drawer is what came after. Teal and white and brown worn into each other, every color having had its say, none of them winning.
This boat had a life. Obi is what’s left of it.
