A nightstand is the most personal piece of furniture you own. It's the last thing you touch at night and the first thing you reach for in the morning. So why do most of them look like they came off an assembly line?
What a reclaimed boat wood nightstand actually is
Every Voiej nightstand is built from the panels of a retired fishing boat — a vessel that worked the water for 30 to 50 years. The paint you see, the faded blues, the sun-bleached whites, the red worn down to bare wood: that's not a finish we applied. That's the boat's actual working life, preserved in the wood.
We don't strip it, stain over it, or fake it. The patina stays.
No two are alike
The patina on your nightstand will never exist on another piece of furniture, because it was earned over decades at sea — not manufactured in a factory. Every Voiej nightstand is one of one. When a piece sells, that exact combination of color, wear, and character is gone forever.
Who they're for
Our buyers are mostly people who grew up around water: retirees settling into a lake cottage, couples furnishing a coastal second home, anyone whose childhood smelled like salt or lake air. They tell us a piece reminds them of their dad's boat, or the harbor they grew up on. A big-box nightstand doesn't do that.
Built to last another lifetime
Boat wood is tough by nature — it survived decades of open water. Each nightstand is designed in-house and handcrafted by our small team, then shipped across the US and Canada.
